The tournament’s first match on Australian soil began with a moving Welcome to Country. Forty-two First Nations performers honoured the creation of the sacred emu constellation, setting the tone for a global celebration of unity, strength and women’s sport.
Before 70,000 spectators and a worldwide broadcast audience, the closing ceremony brought the tournament to a spectacular conclusion.
Young female footballers filled the stadium in a vibrant expression of energy and possibility before a showstopping performance by Tones and I. A mass choir, dancers and immersive projection captured the passion and spirit that defined the tournament.
